In an article published on The Georgia Straight weekly, Holm called on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to stand ‘together with Cuba’ and provide the economic aid Cubans ‘so deeply deserve.’
The author, familiar with Cuba through her travels for more than two decades, enlightened that after over 60 years of blockade, 243 measures imposed by former US President Donald Trump, and a poor economy due to Covid- 19, place Cuba in a too difficult economic situation.
Those Cubans with whom I speak weekly, although frustrated by the increasingly strict sanctions from the White House, know very well who is responsible for the crisis in their country, Holm said.
Holm rejected foreign interference and added that the choice of a socioeconomic order is a sovereign matter between Cuba and its people.
In addition, she claimed that in spite of the strained panorama and long lines to buy food, it would be difficult for someone to die of hunger, and she highlighted the work of the Henry Reeve medical brigades for their support to other countries.
