Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh referred to statements by the United States and the United Kingdom about alleged Tehran’s responsibility in an attack on the Mercer Street oil tanker off the coast of Oman.
Without presenting any evidence, the spokesman said, Washington and London blame Tehran, while they keep silent about terrorist actions against Iranian commercial vessels in the Red Sea and other international waters.
Khatibzadeh also disqualified Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, who blamed Iran for the attack on the oil tanker hired by a Tel Aviv businessman.
The Islamic Republic’s authorities have always been in favor of guaranteeing a safe navigation in all seas and, despite the foreign presence in the regional marine environment, they emphasized their willingness to collaborate for this objective, he emphasized.
