Andro Vazquez, charge d’affaires at the Cuban Embassy in China, told Prensa Latina that the action shows the will of Chinese authorities and people to express their solidarity with Cuba at a time when the island-nation is going through a complex situation.
Vazquez highlighted the arrivals of those ventilators to Havana on Friday in the context of the expressions of affection, solidarity and assistance from other nations to support Cuba’s efforts to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic.
‘China continues to transfer donations, transfer effective aid to our people. This is not the first time, nor will it be the last one. We can always count on the country’s willingness to help ours,’ the diplomat said.
The diplomat stressed that this is the true way to provide aid to Cuba and not by imposing blockades or coercive measures, as the United States insists.
On Friday, Cuba received 30 lung ventilators, as part of a first donation of medical supplies from the Chinese Executive to support the fight against the current outbreak of Covid-19 there.
