‘According to our data, 24.6 million vacationers rested in the country (stayed in hotels at least one night) in the first half of the year, which is 85 percent more than in the same period last year and only five percent less than in 2019,’ she said.
Doguzova considered that such figures reflect a ‘very good dynamics of recovery of the industry, higher than in most countries’ and assured that the country is doing everything possible to maintain this momentum.
For Doguzova, domestic tourism should fully recover by the end of this year.
She also reported that another 49 million people traveled across the country without stopping at hotels in the first six months of the year.
The most visited places in Russia were Moscow, the regions of Moscow and Krasnodar, St. Petersburg, Crimea and Tatarstan.
The top 10 also include the regions of Sverdlovsk, Bashkiria, Nizhny Novgorod and Rostov, as well as Altai, Lake Baikal, Karelia and Dagestan.
