Dr. Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology at MINSAP, reported 8,736 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, so the total number of contagions since March 2020 has risen to 375,721.
At his regular press briefing on television, Dr. Duran stated that of those active patients, 42,788 are clinically stable, while 373 are being treated in intensive care units, 218 of them are seriously ill and 155 are in a critical condition.
The expert stated that 1,582 children were reported with Covid-19 on Thursday, the highest figure reported so far in this age group, so the daily contagion rate is 1,305.
The specialist informed that 9,569 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday, so the number of recovered patients rose to 329,811.
Dr. Duran noted that 65 people died on Thursday due to complications related to the disease, so the death toll increased to 2,693.
Cuba’s chief epidemiologist informed that 9,169,319 doses of Covid-19 vaccine candidates have been administered in the country as part of health interventions, intervention studies and clinical trials.
