The Syrian trucks with goods destined for the Persian Gulf countries can now pass through the Jordanian territory without any obstacle, as well as passenger transport vehicles, a source from that Ministry told Al-Watan newspaper, which requested anonymity.
Those measures come two days after a telephone conversation between the interior ministers of both countries, considered the first high-level contact between Damascus and Amman since the war in Syria broke out in 2011.
Both ministers agreed to cooperate and coordinate efforts to boost the economic relations and facilitate the movement of bilateral transit.
The Nassib-Jaber border crossing between Jordan and Syria was closed in 2014 and reopened in 2018, following its liberation from radical groups. The restrictions imposed by Jordanian authorities prevented the flow between the two nations.
