Cuba expresses gratitude to Vietnam for rice donation

Havana, Jul 29 (Prensa Latina) The director general of Bilateral Affairs at the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Emilio Lozada, expressed gratitude to Vietnam on Thursday for donating 12,000 tons of rice to the Caribbean island.

On his official Twitter account, the official wrote, ‘Our deepest thanks to the brother people and Government of Vietnam and to Hanoi authorities,’ for the shipment.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made the symbolic delivery to Cuban Ambassador Orlando Hernandez Guillen.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Hanoi had other gestures of solidarity with Cuba, as it sent 5,000 tons of rice and medical supplies to counter the health emergency created by Covid-19.

In recent days, several countries, like Russia and Mexico, have sent medicines, food and medical supplies.

The Cuban Ministry of Domestic Trade prepares free delivery to the population through a package with products such as rice, pastas, cereals and sugar, which have been received as donations.

Last year, Cuba and Vietnam celebrated six decades of diplomatic relations, both governmental and political, which are maintained at their highest level.
