‘On speaking about the encounter’s mood, I would call it very practical, very businesslike, very focused, conscious and sensible, if we quote the statement on the outcomes of the Geneva summit on June 16,’ the deputy minister told reporters.
Riyabkov assured that both delegations were able to comprehensively present their positions. ‘We also heard critical comments from the US side, which is more than normal, we also heard their opinion on how we should continue working,’ he explained.
The official expressed satisfaction ‘with the way this first opening meeting was held at our level today in Geneva,’ TASS news agency noted.
On Wednesday’s meeting, the two sides discussed prospects for arms control and risk reduction measures, according to a message released by Russia’s Foreign Ministry after the encounter.
The exchange between Russian and US delegations on strategic stability and arms control is part of the deals reached by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and US President Joseph Biden at the Geneva Summit on June 16.
