Peoples Dispatch detailed a recent statement from the White House recognizing Cuba as a top priority for the administration of President Joe Biden.
The news outlet recalled that on July 11th, some people in Cuba took to the streets to express their dissatisfaction with the social and economic problems created by the blockade imposed by the United States and the global pandemic.
The site contrasted that while the president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, met with the population and denounced the effects of the blockade; Joe Biden took advantage of the situation to call for the overthrow of the Cuban government.
Tens of thousands of people demonstrated in Cuba in defense of the revolutionary process the same day, and things have been calm in Cuba since then, said Peoples Dispatch.
However, the Biden administration announced new measures against the island, in a pressure scenario designed to tighten the blockade and increase lies against Cuba.
The US government circulated a ‘Joint Declaration on Cuba’ among members of the Organization of American States (OAS) to condemn the island.
