Cuba reaffirms commitment to sustainable development at the UN

Havana, Jul 28 (Prensa Latina) The first Voluntary National Report presented by Cuba at the United Nations High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development reaffirms the country's commitment to guaranteeing a more just, equitable and inclusive society.

The document, published on the Presidency’s website, ensures that Cuba is on the path to sustainability with the integration of the economic, social and environmental dimensions, as part of a national plan until 2030.

The report contains a dozen goals in each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to achieve their fulfillment with higher quality.

According to the Presidency, the National Group for the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda, an institutional institution to monitor the SDGs in the country, participated in the preparation of the report, along with other alliances.

Establishing permanent communication and feedback channels meant a strength in the assessment, control and accountability at all government levels in the preparation and implementation of UN plan of action, according to the report, which was submitted on Tuesday.

The 2030 Agenda establishes, among its goals, the end of poverty, zero hunger, health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, as well as decent work and economic growth.

It also refers to the development of inclusive industries, the reduction of inequalities, actions in favor of climate, the sustainability of cities and communities, responsible production and consumption, work in favor of underwater life and land ecosystems, peace, justice and solid institutions.
