The visit, according to parliamentary sources cited by al-Watan newspaper, confirms Iranian firm positions in support of Syria in all fields, mainly in the fight against terrorism.

They added that talks with Syrian leaders, led by President Bashar al-Assad, will address ways to consolidate relations and coordination regarding latest events in the region.

The arrival of the high ranking Iranian official coincides with a visit of more than 300 Russian personalities to Syria and a few days after the visit of the head of Chinese diplomacy.

Iran supports Syria militarily and economically, as well as by deploying military advisers and militias supporting the Syrian army in its fight against terrorist organizations.
