‘The attack by young patriots led by Fidel and Raul Castro on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, which became a prologue to the Cuban Revolution, opened a new page in the history of Latin America and the whole world’, the communiqué addressed to the Cuban Emmbassy in Russia said.

The statement was signed by the Russian Committee for the lifting of the US blockade, the ‘Venceremos’ social movement, the Vanguard of the Red Youth, the I.V. Khlebnikov Workers’ University and the Red TV Creative Project, and expressed those institutions’ commitment to the defense of the traditional ties of comradeship with Cuba, telling the truth about Cuba to the youngest generations and exposing the slanders created by the enemies of the two countries.

‘We express our resolute protest against the tightening of Washington’s (…) blockade, giving it an extraterritorial nature, infringing the sovereignty of Cuba and that of the rest of the countries in the world,’ the statement said.

They also condemned the calls by right-wing sectors of Cuban emigres in the United States to use force against the Cuban people. ‘That propaganda is a crime against the world and humanity,’ the groups stated.

The friends of Cuba denounced the psychological warfare promoted by the United States against the Caribbean island with the goal of undermining the nation’s unity and tarnish the image of the process of socialist development being led by Cuba.

‘We trust that the communists, the revolutionary people of Cuba, will be capable of taking the provocateurs to justice and make them listen to reason’.
