Mexico celebrates anniversary of attack on Moncada Barracks

Mexico, Jul 26 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's National Rebelliousness Day was celebrated on Monday by the Mexican people with a rally in front of the Cuban Embassy and the performance of several musical groups.

This is the culmination of an extensive program to support the Cuban Revolution on the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes barracks, events that began in 1953 the battle for Cuba’s second independence, which was achieved on January 1, 1959.

These events included an important and mass march yesterday from Juarez Avenue, in the historic center of Mexico City, to the US Embassy on Paseo de la Reforma.

There, hundreds of Mexicans in solidarity with the Cuban people demanded the United States to end the criminal blockade imposed by Washington for almost 60 years and tightened by 243 measures approved by former President Donald Trump (2017-2021), and maintained by incunbent Democratic President Joe Biden.

At that rally, Mexicans and Cubans endorsed their support for and welcomed the proposal of Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador to grant Cuba the status of World Heritage for its heroic resistance to the predominance of the United States in the region, and the Dignity Award to the Cuban people, the protagonist of that historic resistance that the Mexican head of State described as a heroic deed.

As part of the festivities for the historic anniversary, which highlights the validity of the political thought of Fidel Castro, who organized the expedition of the Granma yacht from Mexican soil to start the war against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista (1952-1958) in the Sierra Maestra, there were two popular celebrations at the former official residence of Los Pinos, in Chapultepec Park.

Within the framework of these commemorations, Mexicans and Cuban residents in this country organized the defense of the Cuban Embassy, threatened by counterrevolutionary groups paid by Mexican organizations at the service of the US Embassy and the anti-Cuba circle in Miami.
