China demands that United States cease attacks on companies

Beijing, Jul 26 (Prensa Latina) China demanded that the United States stop harassing Chinese citizens and companies by taking unilateral sanctions, travel restrictions and increasing the requirements to operate on US soil.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhao Lijian said that the Deputy Foreign Minister Xie Feng made a statement during talks with US Undersecretary of State Wendy Sherman on Monday.

According to the spokesman, Xie urged Washington to repeal the visa limitations to members of the Communist Party of China and their relatives, stop harassing students, attacking Confucius institutes and considering media outlets as part of official missions.

The official demanded to annul the process of extradition against Huawei Financial Director Meng Wanzhou, grant visas to youths interested in studying in US universities and quit increasing the anti-China sentiment among local population.

Among other issues, Xie Feng called on the White House to address the request as soon as possible not get involved in Chinese internal affairs and stop making unfounded statements about the origin of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, and the situation in Hong Kong, Xinjiang, Taiwan or the Southern Sea.

According to Zhao, during the meeting, the sides exchanged their points of view on a number of topics and the United States sought cooperation and support in facing climate change, the nuclear issue in Iran and the Korean peninsula.

The talks were called ‘profound, candid and helpful’ for better understanding among the two powers and the search for a mechanism to improve bilateral relations.
