Barbados demands end to the US blockade on Cuba

Bridgetown, Jul 26 (Prensa Latina) The secretary general of the Caribbean Movement for Peace and Integration, David Denny, reportedly demanded an end of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.

During a solidarity rally, Denny argued that this unilateral policy is unjust and urged the international community to maintain the demand for the end of the restrictions imposed by the US government for more than six decades.

Denny, who is also president of the Barbados-Cuba Friendship Association, highlighted Cuba’s humanitary policies, shown by sending of medical brigades to other countries to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the solidarity event, the Cuban ambassador in Bridgetown, Sergio Jorge, referred to the challenges his country faces due to the blockade, which from April 2019 to December 2020 caused losses of nine billion 157 million dollars.

In the public event held this Saturday, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Venezuelan embassy, Alvaro Sanchez, also condemned the actions of the U.S. government and ratified his solidarity with the island.

Last June 23, Cuba denounced before the United Nations General Assembly that this genocidal policy, intensified during the administration of former US President Donald Trump, causes immeasurable human damage, suffering and deprivation to families.
