The murdering, in which two minors (14 and 11 years old) and a 32 year old woman were killed by gunfire, occurred in the Bolivar neighborhood of Balboa municipality, Cauca department, Indepaz pointed out.
According to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, 76 massacres were documented in Colombia in 2020, in which 292 people were killed, including six girls and 18 boys.
The international body pointed out that 2020 was the year with the highest number of massacres recorded in this South American country since 2014.
The Peace Agreement signed in 2016 between the extinct Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army and the government of Juan Manuel Santos, on behalf of the State, was aimed at halting violence.
However, the non-compliance with the historic pact, something denounced by political forces and personalities, show that the internal conflict persists with clashes of irregular groups, assassinations of social leaders, massacres, missing and displaced persons.
