At 01:13 local time this Thursday, Israeli warplanes fired several missiles against al-Qusair from Lebanese airspace and the anti-aircraft defenses managed to shoot down most of the rockets and the damages were limited to material losses without regretting civilian deaths, detailed a press release issued by the Ministry.
Military sources consulted by Prensa Latina informed that the Israeli missiles targeted anti-aircraft defense batteries of the Syrian army and positions of fighters from the Lebanese resistance movement (Hezbollah) at El Daba airfield, located near the border with Lebanon.
This is the second Israeli attack in less than 48 hours, the latest of them was carried out by F-16 fighters from the US-controlled Al Tanf region, in eastern Syria.
The Government condemned those attacks and deplored the silence by the United Nations before those actions, as well as ratified the legitimate right to defend the integrity and sovereignty of the Syrian territory by all legitimate means.
