In February 2020, Franconi and Baracca published a second edition of the volume in Italian language with a final update note on aspects of the Cuban reality such as the generational renewal in the leadership of the Government and the State, the tightening of the US blockade and the approval of the new Constitution.
While large pharmaceutical companies accumulate huge profits and keep the destiny of many countries on the rack, the Cuban biotechnology industry, with a completely alternative model to that of ‘large investments,’ represents a lifeline for poor countries and beyond, Franconi stressed.
