During Thursday’s meeting with representatives of the United Nations (UN), the European Union and the United States, Moscow noted the importance of the talks as a key prerequisite for preventing the continuation of the armed conflict amid the crisis.
They agreed that the resumption of the peace process will benefit from the call launched by the quartet at the ministerial level, as a separate management from the high-level negotiations by the UN General Assembly, scheduled for September this year.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the special representatives agreed on the need to urgently restore the civil infrastructure and improve the socio-economic situation not only in the Gaza Strip, but also in the West Bank.
‘The implementation of this task will be an important stabilizing factor for the situation in the region. In this sense, the efforts made through the UN and Egypt’s leadership were positively assessed,’ the note added.
