The Rede Brasil Atual portal assured that the former ministers claimed the initiative splits the technical nature functions ‘from those that allow the risk of politicization of the Armed Forces with dire consequences for these institutions and the country.’
The statement is signed by ministers who were part of the three previous administrations: Aldo Rebelo, Celso Amorim, Jaques Wagner, Nelson Jobim and Raul Jungmann.
Currently, more than 6,000 military personnel work in civilian positions in the President Jair Bolsonaro government.
According to the proposal, active military men who mean to hold civilian positions must leave active service (if they have less than 10 years in service).
A Datafolha Institute study found that 62% of those surveyed said they were opposing to the military involvement in the government.

Apoyo a limitar participación de militares en gobierno de Brasil
Brasilia, 15 jul (Prensa Latina) Al menos cinco exministros de Defensa de Brasil expresaron su apoyo a un proyecto de enmienda constitucional que restringe la participación de los militares en activo en el Gobierno, se confirmó hoy.
El portal Rede Brasil Atual asegura que, en una declaración, los extitulares afirman que la iniciativa separa las funciones de carácter técnico ‘de las que permiten el riesgo de politización de las Fuerzas Armadas con consecuencias nefastas para estas instituciones y el país’.
La nota está firmada por ministros que formaron parte de los tres administraciones anteriores: Aldo Rebelo, Celso Amorim, Jaques Wagner, Nelson Jobim y Raul Jungmann.
Actualmente, más de seis mil militares trabajan en cargos civiles en el Gobierno del presidente Jair Bolsonaro.
Según la proposición, los militares en activo que pretendan ejercer cargos civiles deberán abandonar el servicio activo (si tienen menos de 10 años en filas).
Una encuesta del Instituto Datafolha indicó que el 62 por ciento de los consultados manifestó estar en contra de la presencia de militares en este tipo de manifestaciones.
