Earlier, a source in the Russian delegation at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), based in Dushanbe, reported that consultations between the two countries will be held within a week, according to TASS news agency.
At the meeting in the Tajik capital, Russia considered inadmissible any kind of military conflict with the United States, a position defended by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden at the June 16 summit in Geneva.
However, the Russian side at the meeting also recalled that Washington tried to destroy the arms control system for many years.
As an example, they mentioned the unilateral US withdrawals from the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles Treaty (INF) and the Treaty on Open Skies.
However, they stressed that the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START III) could be preserved and even extended for five years, thanks to the ‘responsible’ position of the current US president.
