The Global Times newspaper emphasized that this objective goes against norms that govern international relations, illustrates the hegemony of Washington and plans to turn Latin America and the Caribbean into its backyard.

It also regarded the continuing sanctions and economic, financial and commercial US blockade as immoral and criminal, mainly amid a worsening of the Covid-19 pandemic.

‘Global justice forces must support Cuba´s efforts to sustain social stability, overcome pitfalls and together condemn repression, plotting and subversion from the United States,’ the newspaper reported.

Among other issues, the Chinese newspaper hoped that Cuba will soon leave current situation behind and may, with the help of the international community, break the US plotting afresh.

On Tuesday, China´s Foreign Ministry expressed support for Cuba to shield social stability. It also strongly rejected any interventionist act in its internal affairs and called for the United States to lift its hostile blockade now, by considering it as main cause of medicine and energy shortages in the Caribbean nation.

The Foreign Ministry praised China’s willingness to work with Havana to fight Covid-19, the implementation of consensus reached by top leaders and the deepening of friendly ties rooted over 60 years.

Analysts condemn that it is a Washington strategy already applied in other Latin American and Caribbean nations to propel social upheaval, prepare ground for military intervention and direct interference.
