Armenia sets guidelines for border delimitation with Azerbaijan

Yerevan, Jul 14 (Prensa Latina) Armenia´s Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinian on Wednesday warned that the demarcation and delimitation of the border with Azerbaijan is only possible after the withdrawal of its troops from that country.

‘Yes, it is necessary to conduct negotiations, but first of all it is necessary to discuss the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from our territory,’ Avinian assured, according to TASS news agency.

He noted that the final status of Nagorno-Karabakh, where Armenians are absolute majority, is also a priority for Yerevan and noted that in order to reach a final peace deal with Baku is necessary to determine the status of that territory within the framework of the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

With the end of the 2020 military clashes in that region, seven districts of Nagorno-Karabakh, previously controlled by Armenia, were recaptured by Baku.

In that country´s provinces of Siunik and Gegharkunik, which share a border with Azerbaijan, there were lately riots and border crossings by military of both countries, which generated complaints and strong friction between the sides.
