This unilateral blockade is becoming urgent in the face of the terrible pandemic that is ravaging humanity.
The policy condemns this fraternal people to go through suffering and hardship, as it prevents the entry of indispensable food and medicines and is applied in violation of the international law despite the almost unanimous condemnation in the United Nations, the organization referred on a communiqué.
Likewise, the Institute´s representatives recalled that the Cuban Revolution implied access to fundamental rights, especially to health and education, for millions of people excluded by poverty and misery, which has allowed reaching an exceptional level of development in science, as demonstrated by the five vaccines against Covid-19 produced on the country.
In addition, they add, Cuba has been an example of solidarity with all the peoples of the world; therefore, it was a permanent target for harassment by the empire, which always had in its sights the destruction of its sovereignty and independence.
After reiterating its support to the statements of Argentina´s President Alberto Fernandez who condemned the US blockade against Cuba, the Institute´s members asked the President to follow the example of Mexico and adopt the necessary measures to send to Cuba, immediately, the largest possible amount of food and medicines.
‘It is a matter of saving lives and reaffirming our own sovereignty and the will of Latin American and Caribbean integration and unity,’ they conclude.
