In a meeting with the Ambassador of the Antillean nation in Moscow, Julio Garmendía, both expressed mutual confidence in the rapid normalization of the situation, the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
Focus was on ‘The inadmissibility of external interference and other destructive actions that are charged with destabilization to Cuba’, a statement on the results of the meeting said.
Ambassador Garmendía commented on the measures to guarantee order carried out by the Government of Havana. Also at the meeting, current issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed, the note said.
Yesterday, the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed its conviction that the Cuban authorities are taking the necessary measures in the interest of their citizens and within the Constitution.
‘We are closely following the development of the situation in Cuba and its surroundings,’ the comment of the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, María Zajárova notified.
‘We consider external interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state unacceptable as well as any other destructive action that promotes the destabilization of the situation on the island,’ the official emphasized.
President Miguel Díaz-Canel, in a television appearance, condemned the actions of those who encouraged these acts and described them as opportunists and double standards, since they take advantage of the difficult circumstances of the people due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the intensified economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.
