In a communique signed by 100 Mexican intellectuals led by prestigious writer Elena Poniatowska, the OCC denounces that the enemies of the Revolution want to take advantage of the health crisis the island is going through due to the United States blockade that has lasted more than 50 years.
We support the words by President Miguel Diaz-Canel: ‘Those who encourage these demonstrations do not want the well-being of the people, but the privatization of health and education, that is, neoliberalism.’
We applaud AMLO’s decision for Mexico’s help to Cuba, as well as his words of rejection to the US blockade. Sincerely.
The document was signed by Poniatowska, Armando Bartra, Lorenzo Meyer, Bertha Lujan, Ifigenia Martinez, Hector Diaz Polanco, Eugenia Leon, Paco Ignacio Taibo II, John Saxe Fernandez, Pedro Salmeron, Laura Esquivel, Leticia Perdiz, Enrique Semo, Abraham Nuncio, Rafael Barajas ‘El Fisgon’, Paloma Saiz, Ariel Rosales, Hector Parker, Jose Reveles, Ivan Garcia Solis and 80 other intellectuals.
