Cuba’s FM rejects Biden’s statements and economic blockade

Havana, Jul 13 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez, rejected on Tuesday statements made by US President Joe Biden to show concern over recent unrest in several places of the island without however mentioning the impact of the blockade.

In an international press conference, the head of Cuban diplomacy stressed that if Biden really wanted to help the Cuban people should start by easing the policy of suffocation towards the island instead of maintaining the economic war amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

Biden should listen to his own citizens who are mostly against the blockade and want their right of traveling around the world be respected, he further said.

Rodriguez also called on the US President to listen to the international community that mostly rejects Washington’s hostile policy.

‘He would do well to listen to Cubans residing in the United States whose families suffer from the manipulation of migratory issues and policies that affect the relationship of peoples and family reunification,’ he further denounced.

It takes a lot of cynicism to ask the Cuban government to listen to society while the US Government has hardened the economic siege, Rodriguez stressed.
