The text also clarifies that last year, the interruptions due to Covid-19 further removed the SDGs, without additional efforts, the Zero Hunger goal will be missed and greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture will increase further.
From the foreword, signed by OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann and FAO Director-General QU Dongyu, the agricultural perspective recognizes ‘it comes at a critical situation’ and points to the epidemic as an unprecedented pressure in the sector.
From the report, both international organizations call for swift action to ensure that the sector can continue to be resilient, efficient and sustainable, now and in the long term.
