In her Thursday´s speech at Howard University, a historically Black university in Washington and her alma mater, Kamala Harris said that this campaign is grounded in the firm belief that everyone´s vote really matters, that your vote matters, she said referring to the initiative ¨I Will Vote¨, an effort by the Democratic National Committee (CND) to reduce the impact of voter suppression before the 2022 mid-term elections.
The figure, she explained, will go to strengthen CND´s efforts to work with voter registration and campaigns to instill the significance of going to the polls.
Harris criticized how more than a dozen states passed laws making it difficult for minorities to access voting after former President Donald Trump’s false claims of voting fraud in the 2020 election campaign.
Last week the Supreme Court made a decision that paved the way for Republican-controlled state legislatures to be more aggressive and prevent ethnic minority voters such as Black people and Latinos from going to the polls.
