In June, 2020, the United States registered the world´s lowest unemployment rate in nearly half a century, 3.5%, far from the 14.7% that subsequently skyrocketed in April due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Thursday´s unemployment data, in spite of sustained improvement, claims for unemployment benefits grew slightly last week although the government continues to recover its domestic economy and labor market due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, analysts said.
Labor Department reported that claims for unemployment benefits rose to 373,000, an indicator showing the rate of layoffs that dropped more than 900,000 in 2021.
This result was made possible thanks to the strong vaccination momentum, businesses reopening and to the domestic economic growth in the country.
