For the second time since the current government took office in 2019, Cafiero made a presentation at the Lower House in a day when it had a record number of consultations, a total of 2,596 questions ranging from health issues to the economy and education.
During his presentation, he noted that they received a weakened state, a consequence of ‘that double crisis that Argentina endured, the 2018/2020 balance of payments and the pandemic crisis.’
This year, however, Argentina will grow again, the head of Ministers claimed and noted that it will be possible to establish their essential commitments regarding economic recovery
When delving into the previous administration of former President Mauricio Macri, he recalled that between 2016 and 2019 economic activity declined by 3.9 percent, there was a 17-percent drop in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 226,000 formal jobs were eliminated in the private sector.
He recalled that in these 18 months of administration, 15 of which have been amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the Government has been able to develop an anti-cyclical fiscal policy and highlighted several steps such as the Emergency Family Income and the Emergency Program for Assistance to Work and Production, which has benefited three million workers.
When reviewing other issues such as the steps taken to get the country out of debt and the bet on production, he said that this has allowed them to start seeing signs of recovery in economic activity.
