The issuing entity reported in a statement that the underlying inflation for the mentioned month stood at six percent compared to June 2021, an indicator which estimates inflationary pressures of monetary origin and isolates the price variations of some volatile agricultural goods, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, fuels and services.

It also explained that inflation in within-the-year terms, that is, the last 12 months, registered a significant reduction, going from 10.48 percent in last May to 9.32 at the end of June 2021.

The BCRD added that the inflationary dynamics of recent months are not due to monetary or fiscal reasons, it is largely explained by high inflationary pressures of external origin, which are the product of the rise in the prices of raw materials of supplies in the chain of production and freight and marine insurance.

The BCRD report explains that the groups with the greatest contribution to June inflation were Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (1.09), Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (2.80), Restaurants and Hotels (0.89) and Furniture (0 , 64).
