We will continue to provide the necessary assistance to all action that guarantees the needs of the Palestinian refugees such as basic education services, medical care, among others, Al-Mekdad said during his meeting at the headquarters of the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini.
The diplomat called to promote cooperation and coordination between the Government and this UN agency to overcome the obstacles that prevent the success of its projects and activities aimed at providing services to the Palestinian camps in Syria that suffered devastation by terrorist groups.
The United Nations and the international community in general must assume their responsibilities to offer protection to the Palestinian people and support the UNRWA, as well as to continue to carry out their tasks efficiently, the head of Syrian diplomacy said.
Around 600,000 Palestinian refugees live in Syria spread over 14 camps, the largest of which is Yarmouk camp, near Damascus, which suffered great devastation during the war.
