In dialogue with Prensa Latina, Mayans recalled that Luna received along with double-bass player Gaston Joya the 2020-2021 Cubadisco award in the island just a few weeks ago for the CD ‘Fusion de almas.’
Mayans, recognized this year by the French Senate for her contribution to the relations between the two countries, stressed that the performance by the ambassadors of Cuban music at the famous event is part of several activities that will help disseminate in French soil the talent and culture of the Caribbean nation for the rest of 2021.
In addition to Luna and Joya, drummer Rodney Barreto will complete the trio, which will have Carlos Sarduy as a special guest on the trumpet.
Jazz in Marciac could not be held in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Emblematic bands such as Kool & the Gang and Earth, Wind & Fire, as well as artists such as Leee John, Kyle Eastwood, Brad Mehldau, Zucchero, Airelle Besson, and Geraldine Laurent, are expected to perform at the festival.
