The event, founded by the Tres de Febrero National University, will expand around the world for the third time, reaching fifty cities in 23 countries, with the Vatican City receiving it for the first time.
The BienalSur will be moved later on in June to Bogota, Tokyo and Malaga.
According to the organizers over 5000 projects from 85 countries were presented to this edition’s open call and were evaluated by an international jury of known curators, who made the final selection. The amount of works surpassed those in 2017 and 2019.
The Biennale is conducted by Anibal Jozami, rector of the University, and Diana Wechsler, General and Artistic Director, and will reach towards December Paris, Madrid, Berlin, Tokyo and other places such as Cuzco, Peru; Manam, Bahrien; and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
In Jozami’s words, far from imposing itself on cultures, institutions or collectives, the Biennale seeks to hear out, learn and work in a particular manner without losing global perspective so as to activate and contribute to restoring community bonds, so necessary in today’s worlds.
