The compendium, under the direction of maestro Andrés Felipe Jaime, highlights the legacy of such international composers as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Gioachino Rossini, Gaetano Donizetti, Giacomo Puccini and Giuseppe Verdi and sees the performance of nine Italian and Colombian singers.

The agenda for this Sunday also includes the presentation of the Cartagena Symphony Orchestra, directed by the Italian director Aurelio Zarrelli, with a repertoire of film soundtracks, taken on by composers such as Giovanni Rota Rinaldi and Hans Florian Zimmer.

Ennio Morricone, who died last year and is known for creating the music for more than 500 films and television series; he also won an honorary Oscar in 2006 and the Oscar for best soundtrack in 2016.

This year’s program reviewed three centuries of Italian opera history through the works of renowned masters and the performance of 12 singers from Italy and Colombia itself.

The upcoming edition of the Cartagena Music Festival will take place in January 2022 and will continue with its purpose of motivating social transformations and promoting the formation and artistic improvement of Colombian orchestras, bands, choirs and soloists.

The event has traditionally gathered for nine days more than 25 thousand spectators in an average of 35 concerts, the presence of 250 musicians and nine live television broadcasts, complemented by lectures, workshops, exhibitions and master classes.
