Health authorities’ management and control, supported by professionals from the University of Medical Sciences in the fight against the pandemic, have contributed to the development of the process in Camagüey, 540 kilometers east of Havana.
Sonia Gonzalez, head of Primary Public Health Care in Camagüey, told Prensa Latina that 280 vaccination centers are planned in the municipality, where more than 200,000 people are expected to be immunized.
Given the epidemiological situation in one of the territories currently at risk in Cuba, the Ministry of Public Health decided to begin a health intervention this week, prioritizing people over 60 years of age.
The authorization for the rest of the vaccination centers already extended throughout the province will depend on the certification by the commission of the Ministry of Public Health that is responsible for the compliance with the health protocols established for these instances.
‘One of comrade Fidel (Castro)’s maxims on people’s health and safety has been realized, now it is up to us to continue taking care of ourselves so that the work is not in vain,’ she told Prensa Latina.
Health authorities in Camagüey are warning about the need to continue implementing the health measures, because a significant group, including children under 18 years of age, will not be part of the vaccination campaign at an early stage.
