Opposition Brazilian MPs to investigate irregular vaccine purchase

Brasilia, June 30 (Prensa Latina) Opposition congress members in Brazil are piecing together a signature collection to set a parliament commission (PC) to solely investigate the purchase of anti Covid-19 vaccines by Jair Bolsonaro' s government, it was confirmed today.

The Workers Party portal in the Chamber of Representatives assure that one of the requests for the setting of the PC was presented by legislator Reginaldo Lopes. As reason , he precised that such search will be parallel to those from the commission in the Senate.

According to the site, the Representatives board will try to unravel the alleged corruption plot in Bolsonaro’ s administration about the acquisition of immunizers to stop the spread of the pandemic.

Thus, it added, the role of the Lower Chamber will be, through its commission, to ‘specifically focus on clarifying the federal government’ s role concerning the vaccines from the beginning of the pandemic’, which has caused until today more than 515 thousand deaths and 18.7 million infections.
