Labor and Social Security Minister Pablo Mieres informed that in the course of the week, he will convene the Superior Tripartite Council, with participation of the Government, for his new adjustment guidelines.

In 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a one-year agreement was agreed with real wage losses because the adjustment would be less than inflation, along with a promise of recovery in January 2022.

However, as the ninth round approached, differences were already raised among business people, who are reluctant to negotiate, claiming the health issue and the PIT-CNT trade union that demanded to create the Councils.

The fear of another wage freeze in the annual bargaining in July increased from the union movement, which would represent ‘a hard blow’ for all employees, ‘already punished’ by high levels of unemployment and the consequential loss of income, the drop in working hours and unemployment benefits.
