The president indicated that he asked the new head of government to continue consultations with political parties and the civil society to appoint the members of cabinet as soon as possible.
According to Algerian News Agency, the appointment of Bernabderrahmane is safeguarded by the provisions of the Constitution, including Article 91 (5) and (7). As a preliminary step to the formation of the cabinet, on June 24, President Tebboune himself approved the resignation of the government led by Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad.
In mid June, Algeria held an early parliamentary election, in which the National Liberation Front Party won 105 seats out of the 407 ones in dispute.
