According to IATA, the region has at least 10 separate approaches for implementing the Digital Covid Certificate (DCC), which could generate duplication of controls, document checking issues and lengthy processing times for travelers.
‘Combined with DCC´s lack of full and effective integration into traveler´s trip, as well as the duplication of document controls, current situation is threatening the resumption of air travel this summer and will undermine free movement across the EU,’ IATA reported.
Plus, IATA said that while the EU has been working closely with this industry and handed over in record time the proper framework that enables common and fully interoperable DCCs, around a dozen different national approaches and solutions are currently being checked across the EU.
According to experts, DCC checking should be done well before departure and before passengers arriving at the airport, along with passenger location forms and without duplication of controls.
