‘June 2023 is Turkey’s election calendar. This is our decision as the People’s Alliance, this is the date we announced,’ Erdogan said in an address to the parliamentary group of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party).
The People’s Alliance is an electoral coalition between the AK and the Nationalist Movement Party with which Erdogan was re-elected in the 2018 presidential election.
The president said the government will try even harder and will be careful not to leave Turkey in the hands of the opposition Nation Alliance and its leading organizations, the Republican People’s Party and the Good Party, according to Anatolia news agency.
‘That is why we say that we will not leave alone any house that we have not entered, we will not leave alone any heart that we have not touched and conquered,’ he stressed.
The ruling force consistently denied rumors of an early election and efforts to promote them, stating that the country needs years without elections so that the government can focus on the nation’s affairs.
