Czech Republic gets first compensation payment for Covid-19

Prague, June 29 (Prensa Latina) Czech Republic got today the first compensation payment from the European Union (EU) to face the consequences resulting from the impact of Covid-19, caused by coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.

The so-called NextGeneratiEU fund, destined to pay for 41 regional and national plans within the community block, included this time 800 million Euros for the Czech government, Radio Prague International indicated.

This way, this nation is among the 16 in the regional entity to benefit from the financial support. The European Commission, EU’ s executive, stated that compensations may go up to 100 percent of the costs.

In 2020, the national economy registered visible set backs, due to the stop of productive activities in order to guarantee a strict confinement, in the context of the fight to prevent the advance of the pandemic, the local press reminded.

Czech republic witnessed a decrease in positive cases of Covid-19 in the last 2 weeks, after reporting a peak of 32 thousand cases in one day by the end of last March.

Health Ministry pointed out that now it is seen a little upturn, reporting 157 cases in 24 hours, 39 more than last week’s Monday.

However, the government considered the epidemiological situation controlled, after reporting only 59 hospitalized with the mentioned disease, from them, 7 in serious conditions, while the case rate is of 6.5 per a hundred thousand inhabitants.

Czech republic’s deaths amounted to 30 thousand 298 since February 2020, seven in the last week, and surpassed the 1.67 million infected, in a population of 10.4 million inhabitants.
