Czech Rep. demands compensation from Russia in powder keg fire

Prague, Jun 28 (Prensa Latina) Despite the lack of evidence to prove Russia's guilt, the Czech Republic demanded that Moscow pay compensations worth 25 million euros for a fire in a powder keg in Vrbetice.

Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Martin Smolek delivered a note to Russian Ambassador Alexander Zmeevsky with the details of the lawsuit, Mlada fronta Dnes newspaper reported on Monday.

Prague considered that the damage caused by the detonations in 2014, after an accident reported in the arms store house, are estimated in 650 million crones (25 million euros), according to local television.

The incident, which occurred in Vrbetice seven years ago, caused a diplomatic crisis between the Czech Republic and Russia, after the former accused the latter’s intelligence and security services of being involved in the fire.
