The following day, Gonzalez, at a press conference with her Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, said that ‘all Spanish diplomats scrupulously comply with their obligations’ under the Vienna Convention and international law.
On Saturday, the response of this Central American state signed by Foreign Minister Moncada reminded Madrid about ‘the cynicism and shamelessness of so many outrages and atrocious crimes, committed by the Spanish crown during the brutal conquest of our sacred American lands.’
He added that when Gonzalez addressed the president of a free and sovereign nation, she did it ‘with the voice of a sheriff without realizing her delirious peroration of a late-night boss’ and showed ‘a bold ignorance and an improper ferocity for diplomacy.’
