Covid-19 contagions increase 14 percent in Mexico

Mexico, Jun 25 (Prensa Latina) Covid-19 contagions rose 14 percent in Mexico this week compared to the previous one, after 31,425 estimated active cases were reported, the Secretariat of Health informed on Friday at a morning press briefing.

During the daily technical report about the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, the federal Secretariat added that 5,340 new cases were reported on Friday, totaling 2,493,087 contagions since the outbreak of the disease in the country.

On Thursday, 221 patients died of Covid-19, so the death toll increased to 232,068.

Regarding vaccination, 787,773 people were vaccinated on Thursday, so 42,155,839 doses have been administered in Mexico.

More than 29 million people over 18 years of age have been vaccinated so far. Of them, 62 percent (18,006,199) have already received the two doses of vaccines, while 38 percent (11,093,300) have been administered only one dose.

Mexico has 127 million inhabitants, but only 118 million adults have been vaccinated so far. This will soon vary as immunization with a Pfizer vaccine for children aged 12 years and older has already been authorized.
