Venezuelan embassy in Lebanon commemorates the Battle of Carabobo

Beirut, Jun 24 (Prensa Latina) The Venezuelan embassy in Lebanon commemorated the 200th anniversary of the victory of the Battle of Carabobo, which was led by the Liberator Simón Bolívar and put an end to Spanish colonialism in Venezuela.

The Venezuelan ambassador in Beirut, Jesús Gregorio González, established a parallel between Bolívar’s positions and current events in Venezuela.

Similar episodes are happening nowadays, González said, because Venezuela continues on its way to independence, freedom and sovereignty in the face of the United States’ attempts to undermine it.

In the opinion of the head of the diplomatic mission, today’s battle for these values is the continuation of the struggle that began since 1498, after the arrival of the Spanish colonizers.

It is the same battle, but with a different enemy, he said, and just as the Venezuelans defeated the Spanish empire, they will be victorious against US imperialism.

The commemoration ceremony of the Battle of Carabobo was attended by the mayor of the Ghobeiry municipality, Maem Khalil, and other political figures of the territory.
