Russia denounces over 120,000 cyberattacks against infrastructure

Moscow, Jun 24 (Prensa Latina) The Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolay Patrushev, denounced more than 120,000 cyberattacks against the country's critical infrastructure from abroad during 2020, addressing on Thursday the International Security Conference.

The official explained that cyberspace is increasingly becoming a place for the fight against geopolitical opponents and pointed out that most of the cyberattacks against the country were perpetrated from the United States, Germany and the Netherlands, Sputnik news agency stated.

Public administration facilities, the military-industrial complex, the health, transportation, science and education institutions, among others, have been target of such attacks against Russia in 2020, according to Patrushev.

Among the results of the recent presidential summit between the United States and Russia in Geneva, both countries’ intention to work together for the renewal of nuclear strategic stability agreements and the fight against cyberattacks was discussed.
