In a statement, the South African Communist Party (SACP) asked the UN member states to vote once anew to lift the US blockade. On Wednesday, Havana will present to UNGA (UN General Assembly) the resolution entitled ‘The need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.’
Under the Trump administration, the US regime extended its genocidal blockade to unprecedented levels, even blocking drug and health equipment supplies needed during the Covid-19 pandemic, SACP recalled.
SACP urged all African nations to unconditionally support Cuba in defending the right to self-determination of the Cuban people.
On the other hand, the African National Congress (ANC) strongly rejected ‘the continuing aggressive US sanctions on Cuba.’
It´s obvious that the imperialists´ goal by implementing the blockade is to impose a regime change in Cuba, stifling the Cuban economy and causing serious damage to its people, the ANC claimed.
