The statements to reject Washington’s hostile policy for more than 60 years against Cuba were made on Sunday, during a tribute to the Soviet soldiers who died in World War II (1939-1945).
The commemoration was presided over by Igor Savchenko, head of the veterans’ organization in the Myronivskyi region, and Alexander Naumov, president of Kiev’s rocket and space forces veterans organization.
Also present at the rally were Alexei Uspenski, president of the October Crisis Veterans Association, and Natacha Diaz, head of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Ukraine.
The event coincided in time with the actions taking place globally in solidarity with Cuba and in rejection of the tightening of the US blockade.
The Ukrainian veterans condemned the US restrictions against the Cuban people and asked for Ukraine’s support for the draft resolution against the blockade, which will be voted on June 23 during the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
